Richard Poynter

Job: 26 years as a photographer at Moorfields Eye Hospital - every year I say,

“This is going to be my last one”. I will say it next year too.

Recently I have started taking candid photographs of people, something I would have felt no interest in 15 years ago.

I wish I could spend more time in my darkroom than in front of a monitor.

The last five photographic books I bought were:

No Worries - Martin Parr: We English – Simon Roberts: Abstract Pictures – Wolfgang Tillmans:

Only in England – Tony Ray-Jones: Behind the Mask – Andy Gotts

Best piece of photographic advice I was ever given: “Photograph what you feel, not what you see”

Remember: every time you take a picture you might change someone’s life, mine do every day.
