I enjoy my photography but, unlike many others, certainly do not consider it a passion. I had my first “proper” camera (a totally manual Pentax SLR) in the late 1970s because I wanted to photograph birds up close. Since then I have broadened my subject matter to include almost anything that “catches my eye” although natural history and birds are still top of my list. In the year 2000 I moved to a Canon DSLR but after many years found the weight too excessive and currently use a, lighter, Fujifilm XT series camera.
I joined Loughton Camera Club in 1981, became a committee member two years later taking on the posts of Publicity Officer, General Secretary and three spells as President. Since 1996 I have served on the Executive Committee of the EAF, currently as General Secretary.
